Several hundred digital images of surfaced cores were captured using a GigaMacro camera platform, focus-stacked and mosaic stitched into a single ultra-high-resolution macrophoto for each core.
A University of Minnesota study of red pine growth and climate at Itasca State Park, in which several hundred increment cores were digitized on a GigaMacro platform and measured from the resulting ultra-high-resolution images.
